The Centre for Innovative Research (CIR) has received the status of the Leading National Research Centre (KNOW) in the field of medicine/health sciences - prestigious award granted by the Minister of Science and Higher Education.

In the first edition of the contest there were selected the top three academic units in Poland specialising in the field of science and three in the field of medical science, which in the years 2012-2017 will receive additional financial support for the development of research potential and the academic staff.

The presentation of the honorable mentions by the Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Professor Barbara Kudrycka – the Minister of Science and Higher Education was held on July 12, 2012, in the Prime Minister's Office.
